Heritage Village
Three restored buildings on our Heritage Village site preserve the trades, tools, and everyday work that built Vassalboro: a barn, a blacksmith shop, and a harness shop, each donated by the families who lived and worked with them.
Three Restorations
Each Heritage Village building has been recently revitalized by our volunteers, and each has its own story: the family that donated it, the trades it served, and the artifacts it now holds.
Ina's Barn

Look up at the ceiling and walls of Ina's Barn and you'll see the wooden panels that once traveled with the caskets shipped to the A. F. Hussey Funeral Home, salvaged and given a second life here.
Taylor's Blacksmith & Wheelwright Shop
Donated by Betty Taylor
Wagon wheels made by Harold Taylor, horseshoes, farrier tools, and full blacksmithing equipment. The building is undergoing ongoing volunteer re-shingling, a project you can help with.
H.O. Lampson's Harness Shop
Donated by Margaret Annette Lampson Davis
Now home to a post office display, a doctor's office setting, and the original harness equipment. Plans are in place to showcase our printing press here as well.
Open by Appointment
The Heritage Village sites are open by appointment year-round, and on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month when a greeter is scheduled. All buildings are open during Vassalboro Days (September 12 & 13, 2026, 9am–3pm both days). It’s the best time to see the full site with the community around it.
