The Mackinnons Return
Former Vassalboro residents Ian and Ann Mackinnon stopped by the museum with Linda Gould, a former Vassalboro 4-H’er. They found something of their own waiting for them.
Ann remembered the vintage 1940s television set on display: her family watched it when she was young. It now sits in our Homestead Life display, where it traces home entertainment alongside the cooking and chores of a Vassalboro kitchen.
The 4-H thread runs further back than the visit. Ann and Ian led the local 4-H group, and Ann taught Linda to sew. That skill turned up again decades later, in a 4-H themed block for the Vassalboro Community Quilt.
It is the kind of visit that happens more often than you might expect here. Someone walks in, recognises an object, and a piece of the collection gets its story back.
